Tribe Cyrtacanthacridini included the largest grasshopper in Australia. Grasshoppers in this group are large to very large in size.

Austracris proxima, body length 60mm
This is one of the pest locust,  forms swarms and can reach plague status in Australia. They attack various crops like sorghum, sunflower or soybean. More information please click on here.

Valanga irregularis, tribe Cyrtacanthacridini, female length 90mm, nymph length 50mm
This grasshopper is also commonly known as Hedge Grasshopper. We found them on different plants in our back yard. They eat almost all kinds of leaves. We have more information above this grasshopper in this page.
