Subfamily Chrysomelinae, FAMILY CHRYSOMELIDAE
This page contains pictures and information about Shiny Dark Brown Leaf beetles that we found in the
Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.
-
- Body length 14mm
-
- This
Shiny Dark-brown Leaf Beetle was running very fast on gum stem when we taking
its photos in Karawatha Forest during mid summer. The beetle has the very
smooth and shiny case. We did not found the ID of this beetle. It could be the
dark version of the Aerarium Leaf Beetle.
-
-
-
- We found this beetle only once.
-
-
-
- The
beetle was found on a medium size Stringy Bark Gum tree. No other adults or
larvae were found on the same tree.
-
-
-
-
- On
Feb 2011 in Ford Road Conservation Area, we found this leaf beetle and nymph.
The adult beetle was feeding when we found it.
-
-
-
- Both
adult and nymph did not move a bit we we taking those
photos.
-
-
- The larvae is large and we believe it will become pupa very soon.
We took it home and tried to confirm it is the same species. The larvae turned
into pupa the next days and the beetle emerged two weeks later. We put it back
on a gum tree in our backyard.
-
-
-
- We
confirmed that the adult beetle and the larvae are the same
species.
