It is easy to found this beetle on different species of Eucalyptus in Karawatha Forest during mid summer.
The beetles were running around on leaves and stems.
There are the red patterns on creamy colours on its back. The patterns resemble
the map of Africa and South America.
When
disturbed, this beetle released a small dropping on leaf. We believed this is
a kind of defense behavior.
Eggs are 1mm x 3mm in size.
The Host Plant
The beetle can be found on the new shots of a matured gum tree and small gum
tree of different
species. The other Leaf
Beetle Chrysophtharta cloelia was
also found on the same plants.
