| | Spotted Paropsine Beetle
- Paropsis maculata
Subfamily Chrysomelinae, FAMILY CHRYSOMELIDAE
This page contains information and pictures about Spotted Paropsine Beetles that
we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.
- Body length 8mm, laying egg
-
- The Spotted Paropsine Beetles are commonly found on young Eucalyptus tree in Brisbane
forests, from late spring to mid summer to early winter. They are golden-yellow patterned on brown
background colour.
-
-
-
- Sometimes we found a lot of them on a small Eucalyptus tree.
-
-
-
-
-
- When
they feel the dangers, they hide all their legs and antenna under their harden
thorax and wing-covers. After a while, it may use their antenna to sense if the
dangers are still there.

Leaf Beetle and egg
-
- Leaf
Beetles lay eggs on leaves or stems. The larvae hatch and feed on the
leave. When fully grown, they drop onto the soil and pupate.
-
-
-
- We
reared those larvae once and confirmed they are the larvae of this
species. The larvae of this species are well camouflaged and not as easy
as seen as other species.
