Yellow Rhiniin Fly - Metallea nigripilosa

Body length 6mm

 

The Metallea sp. can be distinguished by the strong setae on thorax, the metallic reflections and the irregular white dusting. This species has black hairs on yellowish-brown body. The head is mostly yellow to orange-yellow in colour. 

 

 

From the reference information the Metallea species is associated with termite mounds but not much is known about their life cycle yet.
