Leafhoppers - Subfamily Penthimiinae

Family Cicadellidae

Leafhoppers in subfamily Penthimiinae are round squat insects. They are small in size. Adults have front wings reaching just to the end of the abdomen and usually slightly overlapping.

Vulturnus  sp., body length 5mm
This little fellow looks like a Leafhopper nymph. It has a very flat body. It mimics the brown marking of the Acacia leaf. We did not notice this little fellow when we taking photos of a Acacia Leaf Beetle. We saw it on the photos only when we processing the beetle images on our computer. Those photos was taken during early summer. Dr. Murray Fletcher sent us email advised that this flat rounded one is probably a Vulturnus sp.
