- Planthopper in family Flatidae are small to medium size plant-feeding insects.
Their colours are from
pale green, through yellow-green to brown. The hind legs have one or
two spurs.

- Adults have the triangular and broad fore
wings. They held wings vertically when in rest. All
of them jump, so their name planthoppers.

- Colgaroides acuminata, subfamily Flatinae, tribe Flatini, body length 15mm
- This Planthopper is creamy green in colour with a tiny pinkish-brown dot at the
middle of each front wing. It is common un Brisbane and can be found on stem

- Colgar sp., subfamily Flatinae, tribe Flatini, body length 15mm
- We took this picture on White Hill during early winter. The Planthopper is
creamy white in colour with pink wing edges. Check this page for more
infromation.

- Green Mottled Planthopper

- Siphanta hebes, subfamily Flatinae, tribe Siphantini body length 15mm
- This Green Planthopper is triangular in shape with pink eyes and a pointed
head. The forewings cover the body like sloping roof when it rests. This
species has the dot patterns on the wings with brown wing edges. Check

- Newly Hatched Flatid Planthopper Nymphs

- ? Colgaroides or Colgar sp., body length 2mm
- Those newly hatched hoppers were found on Acacia leaf during early
summer. Chris Freebairn
sent us email advised that " they are are flatid nymphs (Family
Flatidae) - possibly mango planthopper (MPH) Colgaroides acuminata,
though the egg raft does not look quite right for this species and the bands
on the nymphs look a bit different too. Maybe a species of Colgar."
