- Body length 20mm, female

- This is one of the largest Tachinid flies that we saw. Its hairy
body is mostly brownish-grey in colour with metallic violet on thorax. It wings
appear to have strongly developed basal "shoulders".

- Most other Rutilia Flies rest on tree trunk with head facing downwards. This Grey Rutilia
Fly rests with head facing upwards.

- From those pictures that we were taken, we noticed that
this fly likes to rest on large Paper Bark tree trunk.

We found this fly a couple of times in Karawatha Forest and Wishart on Oct
2007 and Jan 2008
