Family Pentatomidae
This page contains pictures and information about Brown Long-headed Shield Bugs in genera Austromalaya
that we found in
the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.
- Body length 20mm
-
- We found this bug a few times in Karawatha Forest during mid summer. They
were either resting on a tree trunks or on leaves. We thought this was a shield bug species that
we commonly saw. We found out it was not so common when we looked at the
pictures at home. This shield bug looks very similar to the Gum Tree Shield Bug,
which is common in Brisbane Eucalyptus forest.
-
-
-
- Because those difference species of Shield Bugs look so similar
and live in the same environments, we believe they may have form a Mullerian
mimicry complex.
-
-
-
- This Stink Bugs were also found in Wishart
near the Bulimba Creek during early summer.
-
-
- This stink bug has the longest head that we found. We call it Brown Long-headed Shield
Bug.
-
-
-
- This bug usually found resting on rough bark trees, seldom found on smooth
bark trees.
