FAMILY LYCOSIDAE
- This page contains pictures and information about Dark Wolf Spiders that we found
in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.
-

- Body length 10mm
-

-
- This is a common large brown spider usually found running on garden and
forest floor. The spider builds burrow nest in ground with raised collar
together with silk and debris.
-

-
- We took those pictures in Karawatha Forest.
-
- Thank to Dr
Volker W. Framenau for the identification of this spider. As Dr
Framenau suggested, Wolf Spiders are often difficult to identify based on photographs
alone.
