Family Oecophoridae
This page contains information and pictures about Banded Concealer Moths
that we found in
the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.
- Body length 15mm
-
- This moth mimics bird-dropping
in dirty black and white colours. During the day it was usually found resting
on leaf.
-
-
-
- There are a lot of black and white banded moths in the family OECOPHORIDAE
as well as the other moth families. We believe those black and white colours mimics the
bird-dropping. Those black and white banded moths include the Bird-dropping
Lichen Moth in family Arctiidae.

-
-
- The caterpillars make and live in the shelter of joined dead Eucalyptus
leaves on ground, especially those leaves on recently fallen branches. The
caterpillars feed on those dead leaves as well.
