- This page contains pictures and information about Slender Bee Flies in
subfamily Toxophorinae that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.
-
- Slender Bee Flies in subfamily Toxophorinae are small to medium in size.
In Australia they are all put in genus Geron. They are very similar
in appearance and hard to be distinguished in photos.

- Bee Flies in the subfamily usually have the slender body covered with
short hairs. They also have long and slender proboscis to feed on
flowers.

- The larvae of Geron are known to be parasitic on various families of
Lepidoptera (moth caterpillars) such as
Tortricidae, Pyralidae and
Psychidae.
