Family Myrmeleontidae

we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

- Orange Antlion
adult, body length 40mm

- The lacewing has
bright orange colour head and thorax, dark grey eyes with board spotted wings.
Antennae are short and flagellum black, slightly clubbed. Slender abdomen is
black and legs are orange and black.

- Pictures taken in Alexandra Hill during early summer 2004. So far we saw this lacewing only once.

- Their larvae are true Antlions, build sand traps on ground.

- Antlions build sand traps on ground similar to those in the above
