- Sap Beetles in Family Nitidulidae are small in size. They usually black
or dark brown in colour.
They have the board and flatten body adapted to move inside flowers and
flower-buds. Their antenna is eleven segmented and the last three segments are
clubbed. Their wing-covers are short and usually with last two abdominal
segments exposed.

- This species are commonly found on
large flowers. They are pollen and nectar feeders. Some other Sap Beetle
species feed on fungi or rotten plant materials.

- We
sometimes found this black little beetle in Hibiscus flowers in our backyard.
They are also common in the large flowers in Brisbane Botanic Garden.
