Family Limacodidae
This page contains pictures and information about Wattle Cup Caterpillars and
Moths that we
found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.
- Caterpillar 30mm
-
- We often find this caterpillar on Acacia wattle leaves. The caterpillar is
bright yellow with blue green and orange colours. There are a number of
tubercles around its body.
-
-
-
- The adult moth is creamy brown in colour with lines of dots on forewings. We
did not find any yet.
-
-
- Length 10mm
-
- Above pictures were taken in Karawatha Forest during mid summer. We believe
this is the young version of this caterpillar.
-
-
-
- We had tried to rear this caterpillar once without success. The caterpillars
fully grew but with unknown problems on making the cup cocoon. We
might not have put them in the right pupate enviroment of did not supply
suitable materials.
