Greyish-brown March Fly - Scaptia (Scaptia) testacea

Body length 10mm

 

This March Fly is uniform brown in colour. Antenna and all legs are brown. The abdomen is golden brown. Eyes are hairy, ocelli are fully developed.

 

 

Wings veins are yellow-brown, R4 angulate with minor or trace of appendix. 

 

 

Male has two large green eyes touching each other. 

 

 

Female look similar with white hairs on edge of thorax. There is the small gap between eyes.
