Gum Notodontid Moth - Destolmia lineata

This page contains pictures and information about Gum Notodontid Moths and caterpillars that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

Length 40mm 
 
This caterpillar is green in colour with yellow lines along each side of its body. Its head is pale brown in colour.

On Oct 2007 we found this caterpillar in Bulimba Creek near Sunnybank. This caterpillar raised its head when disturbed, so we knew it should be in this Notodontidae family.

They pupate in soil in an earthed cell. The adult moths are white and grey in colours.
